The val Tartano can be found in the lower part of the Valtellina on the north face of the Orobic Alps, a mountain range of 60km over an area of 44.000
acres; Val Tartano seperates the Bergamo Valleys from those of the Valtellina.
Leaving the statale 38 of the Stelvio turn off for the valley at the area of the torrent of Tartano, it is signposted.
The valley is dominated by its verticality, at about 1200mt it divides to the north-east with the Val Lungs while to the south with Biorca,
going along a mule path you meet Val Corta then Val Budria and Val di Lemma , this last mentioned valley contains some significant natural aspects
such as the Marmitte dei Giganti dug into the rocks alongside its thousand year old torrent.
