BOTANIC GARDEN

The project will realise an Alpine botanic garden with medicinal and rare plants from the Orobic Park.
The botanic garden along with the collaboration of the University of Pavia intends to protect the existing flora with regional and provincial laws and its aim is to inform people about the relative problems the species in this area may have.
The garden will also cultivate herbal plants in order to produce alpine seeds which will be certified by The Centre of Autocthonous Lombard Flora of the University of Insurbia . These seeds will be planted along roads or ski runs in the whole of the Valtellina and nearby areas.

The Botanic garden is a centre for scientific research with the following objectives:

  • To extend knowledge of medicinal herbs and their properties and cultivation in the area.
  • To protect certain examples of rare flora species from extinction and to permit them to be studied and viewed by the public.

To cultivate alpine plants protected by the region of Lombardy and to inform a vast public, including school pupils which flora must be respected in nature.

To attempt to improve the lack of peoples knowledge about protected flora.
