FAUNISTIC PATH

The Val Corta has a zoological richness easily viewed by tourists.
On the peaks of Sona and Vallaor the presence of nesting eagles has been noted. The sightings of birds of prey are very frequent in the area above the botanic garden as far as the thematic path.

Chamois are also regularly seen along the thematic path especially in the foppa area, which means they can be seen in all the seasons just a few minutes from the main itinerary.

There are plenty of game birds on the pastures situated at the end of the thematic path- thanks to the white partridges and rock partridge; hazel hen and black grouse are present in the larch forest. The thematic path area is an excellent habitat well preserved for the reinsertion of the capercaillie.

There are numerous small birds present and according to research by the Region of Lombardy, 30 specimens require some kind of intervention.

Some high altitude mammals also exist such as ermines and hares which are harder to spot. Toads, numerous insects and not forgetting marmots and the odd ibex are also present.
